Joe's Roadtrip

So after long last, I hit the road right around noon today.  Finally coming to the realization that this was it…this is what I’m doing for three months…gave me a few chills while driving, but good chills, nonetheless.  My first destination was Huntsville, AL, to meet up with Aunt Paula, Uncle Danny, their grandchild Maxie, and my cousin Robin.  The drive there was gorgeous, through Northwestern GA and Northeastern AL, despite a little rain along the way.

We all had a nice lunch together for a little while before I continued on my way.  I haven’t seen Paula, Danny, or Maxie since we met up in Nashville briefly in 2008, and I can’t recall the last time I saw Robin.

From Huntsville, I continued in a southwest direction towards New Orleans.  Passed through some beautiful southern country, got to see a few stars along the way, and then reached Hattiesburg around 11:30pm or so.  I’ll rest here and pick up the drive tomorrow.  GoogleMaps says the drive from here to New Orleans is just less than two hours away, so I made it farther than I originally thought I would.  So ideally I’ll get to the Big Easy Monday morning, and then I’ll spend the night there.
