Welcome / One month away

Hi everyone –

Welcome to Joesroadtrip.com.  In just about a month I will be hitting the road for the summer – a trip many years in the making.  To learn more about me and the trip, take a look at the tabs above.

So I’ve been busy preparing for what will be a summer’s worth of driving – getting the car prepped, getting my outdoor gear together, and shipping some boxes home (I am moving, after all).  More importantly, I’ve been also looking at the places I want to visit and the people I plan to see out there on the road.  Between recommendations from friends, books, and websites I have plenty of destinations/scenic drives in mind, not to mention all the places I didn’t visit in my last cross-country road trip.

There’s a lot of work to do yet before I start the trip, but it’s been a thrill to prepare…I just can’t wait to get behind the wheel.

Make sure to cruise up Pacific Coast Highway through Big Sur with the windows rolled down.

Joe, have you ever watched “Diners, drive-ins, and dives” on Food Network? There are a ton of restaurants I’d like to go to but will probably never be able to in my life. I’ll try to post ones that are nearby your stops and hopefully you can take a picture or two to document the excellent dining establishments!!! For example, take a picture of pho at Pho Nam on Shady Grove Road. Or City Lites in Germantown, MD (I hope that place has closed down for health violations by now). Safe travels my friend!

Never saw that show, but I’ll keep my eye out. If you find any good restaurants out there let me know. I hope they will never shut down City Lights!

This the first time I was able to view excerpts from your first trip – very, very cool. Wish you all the best with this trip.

I promise not to think you fell off a mountain because I can’t reach you by my cell; as I did last time when you were only half way through your trip! I have matured!
Looking forward to your wonderful pictures and the great way you weave your story.
