Recalling the Highlights

As I’ve mentioned before, it’s very difficult to name the highlights of this roadtrip…I’ve done far too much, seen too many spectacular places, and met up with a great deal of friends along the way.  But in an effort to capture some of the more memorable moments, I put together a couple of slideshows.

At first I was going to create one slideshow, then I realized it would be way too long with all the pictures I have (even after culling the unremarkable ones).  So I created two slideshows – one showing all the people I got together with along the way, and then one showcasing some of the amazing scenes I came across in the US and Canada.  After all, it was the combination of people and places that made Joesroadtrip a trip for a lifetime.

The first slideshow here is entitled “Joesroadtrip.com – The People.”  All the friends and family I spent time with along the way are here.  I used two songs to go along with the pictures.  The first is “Alive” by Pete Yorn, and the second song “Someday” by No More Kings.  Both songs have a good, positive energy that I think captures the spirit of the roadtrip.

The second slideshow is, you guessed it, called “Joesroadtrip.com – The Places.”  Although I saw many amazing sights on this road, there where some places that stood out a bit more than the others, and I tried to focus on those here.  The song accompanying the pictures is called “Hoppipola” by the Icelandic Band Sigur Ros. Just a great song that is fitting of an adventure, I think.

Hope you enjoy the videos.  Although it took more work than I anticipated, I had a lot of fun putting these together.  I feel so lucky to have experienced all of this in one summer.

All the best.

P.S.  I failed to mention two people who helped me get these slideshows made.  Thanks Brendan and Nichole for letting me use your Mac for who knows how many hours!

Simply amazing. I’ve decided next summer, I’m flying to Seattle and make the trek up to Alaska. You’ve inspired me. Thumbs up to the song choice as well.

Bill’s response led me to choosing this quote:

“Unless a man can link his written thoughts with the everlasting wants of men, so that they shall draw from them as from wells, there is no more immortality to the thoughts and feelings of the soul than to the muscles and the bones.”

    Henry Ward Beecher

What a virtual tour we have been on: We’ve climbed every mountain. We searched high (the stars) and low (jumped those boulders) every path (including animal encounters) you took us on. We shared your insights and knowledge of things unaware to me, anyway; your food (yummy in the tummy) and most of all met your wonderful and generous friends. What a lucky man you are and we know you don’t take any of it for granted!

    Until the next venture……………………Hugs

You are very kind, sweet Melissa!

“No joy in nature is so sublimely affecting as the joy of a mother at the good fortune of her child.”

That joy being to realize that you and Ed are one of the many loyal and loving friends Jip has! The added bonus….he shared you with us. Yippee!!!!

Thanks Joe for sharing all of this with us. It was so fun to see you at our front door after “watching” you drive across the country. What a trip you’ve had. Good luck in your future travels, maybe around the world with no planes…

Even though I haven’t watched the slideshow yet, I’m sitting here trying to figure out a way to incorporate it into Spanish class. Any ideas?

Joe, you are blessed indeed with your choice of friends. Know all who have
traveled with you will miss the (almost) daily updates. I love both your
slideshows. They will be revisited. Enjoy this next adventure!

We made it through on my “slow” internet. Hmm, wonder who “fixed” my router!!!

The pictures are outstanding and to see you representing Kennesaw State earns you a Hootie Hoo!!!! When you come back from the Peace Corp, KSU will have football we have to set up a plan for a game and some world famous frito pie.

Enjoy the trip tomorrow and tell the folks at Mama D’s I wish I was there….

    Tear. Drop.

Well done Joey C! Congratulations on such a well executed and amazing roadtrip. A bit surreal. It was a joy to follow you from beginning to end. Best of luck going forward. Looking forward to when joesroadtrip.com goes international 🙂

Awesome slide show. I am now inspired to drive up to Alaska next spring for state #49. Up until watching this I had been on the fence about it. Now it’s on my “must do” list. I travelled the lower 48 this summer. Hope I can do a slideshow like that on a PC.
